Plain terms for a free reference site. Using it means accepting these.
Acceptance
By using W9Form.org you accept these terms, and if you do not accept them the remedy is simple enough: close the tab. We may update the terms from time to time. Continued use after a change means you accept the updated version.
What this site is
A free educational reference about IRS Form W-9 and related information reporting. It is not tax, legal or accounting advice, and it is not affiliated with the IRS or any government agency. The disclaimer spells out both points at length and forms part of these terms, so read it too.
Permitted use
- Read, print and share pages for your own use or inside your organization.
- Link to us freely; no permission needed, and none will be refused.
- Quote short passages with attribution to W9Form.org and a link to the page you took them from.
- Use the worksheet as often as you like, for yourself, your clients or your vendors.
- Redistribute the IRS forms we host. They are public-domain U.S. government documents and were never ours to license.
Not permitted
- Republishing substantial portions of our original text as your own content, with or without attribution.
- Automated scraping that degrades the service for other users.
- Presenting the site or its content as official IRS material, or implying government endorsement.
- Reselling access to our content, or gating it behind a paywall or email capture.
- Removing or altering attribution, dates or disclaimers from material you are permitted to reuse.
- Using the site to break the law, or to help somebody else do so.

The site is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including any implied warranty of accuracy, merchantability, or fitness for a particular purpose. We do not warrant that it will be uninterrupted, error-free, or current at any given moment.
Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, W9Form.org and its contributors are not liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, consequential or special loss arising from your use of, or inability to use, this site. That expressly includes any tax, penalty, interest, withholding, or professional fee you incur. The reason is structural rather than stingy: we publish for everyone who lands on the page, we never see your operating agreement or your prior returns, and we cannot carry the risk of a decision made on facts we were never shown. Somebody working from your actual documents can. If you need an answer you can rely on, hire that person.

Governing law and severability
These terms are governed by the laws of the United States and of the state in which the site operator is established, without regard to conflict-of-laws rules. If any provision is held unenforceable, the remaining provisions continue in effect.
