Contact us
We read everything, and corrections get priority over everything else.
How to reach us
- editor@w9form.org
- Best for
- Corrections, broken links, unclear explanations, topic suggestions
- Response
- We aim to reply within a few business days
- Corrections
- Prioritized over everything else, especially with a source link
What we can help with
- Corrections. If something is factually wrong or out of date, tell us the page and what is wrong. A link to the IRS source that contradicts us gets it fixed fastest.
- If a page left you more confused than when you arrived, tell us. We will rewrite it.
- A W-9 situation we have not covered.
- Broken links, layout problems, accessibility issues. Including which browser or assistive technology you were using.
- Citation and reuse questions, which the terms of use mostly answer.
What we cannot help with
We cannot give tax advice
We cannot tell you which box to check for your specific business, whether a particular trust is a grantor trust, whether you are an employee or a contractor, or how a settlement should be allocated. Those answers depend on facts and documents we cannot see, and giving them would be practicing without a license. We would be doing you a disservice by guessing.
- Advice on your own tax situation, entity classification, or worker status.
- Reviewing a completed W-9, a contract, or a trust instrument.
- Anything about a specific IRS notice you have received.
- Contacting the IRS on your behalf, or chasing a client for you.
- Recovering backup withholding, which runs through your tax return. Detail

Describe your question in words instead
We have no reason to see your taxpayer identification number and no wish to hold it. If you are asking about a form, describe the situation in words. Redact any SSN, EIN or address from anything you send us. Why this matters
